Days 5 and 6

Blame It on the Laziness: A Not-So-Action-Packed Update

The delay in writing isn't entirely due to laziness and procrastination—though they certainly played their part. The library, my usual writing haven, has been unusually busy the past couple of days. That said, I also haven’t had much to report. I’ve fully embraced the bliss of having no responsibilities, which, while great for relaxation, doesn’t always make for the most riveting updates.

Day 5

Day five marked our final day docked in Bermuda. I had ambitious plans: visit Glass Beach and check out the Bermuda Museum at the port. I've meant to explore both for years now but somehow never quite make it—almost always because I talk myself out of it. (Yes, laziness strikes again.)

Instead of sightseeing, I leaned into the sea day mindset a little early. I spent most of the day reading and relaxing in my room. No regrets.

Later, once we set sail, I met up with my fellow Minnesotans at the Spinnaker Lounge. We got settled in and observed a line dancing class, which turned out to be comedy gold. You know the saying “dance like no one is watching”? Yeah, well—I am watching, and I’m probably laughing. After the lessons ended, the DJ dropped some nostalgic ‘90s bangers that Sara and I completely vibed with. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, it was a very late night.

Day 6

Continuing on from day 5, I don't think my head hit my pillow until around 4 AM which meant I did not feel like getting our of bed until about noon.

grabbed a quick bite, then parked myself between The Pit Stop and the pool deck to soak up the unexpectedly beautiful weather. I’d checked the forecast before embarkation and thought we were in for gray skies, so the sunshine was a pleasant surprise.

Later in the afternoon, temperatures dropped and the seas got choppier. It felt like a good excuse to start winding down. Dinner was at the ship’s specialty Brazilian steakhouse and afterward, I headed straight back to my room and called it an early night—a great decision after my previous day shenanigans.

We will see how today, our final sea day, fares with the weather and the waves.
